Experiencing grief is individual. No one person walks this journey the same. It is difficult to navigate alone, although many do. It is easier than making the effort to act or reach out to friends and family.
Creative therapy is something that doesn’t require connecting with someone, just something.
Usually, these things are accessible without having to leave the home. It could be a simple dance in the living room. It could be drawing or doodling with colored pencils and paper. It could be paint and an old piece of wood from the shed. It could be sitting at the computer and putting words to the page. It could be picking up the old guitar and strumming. Whatever it is, it is probably accessible.
Creating or connecting with a form of art can be a healthy and healing experience.
Using craftsmanship can serve as a cathartic method of expression, lending tribute to the loved one.
Writing, moving through unfiltered thoughts and emotions, releasing them from the body and mind to live on a page have a profound healing effect.
Dancing is known to release endorphins, improve mood, lower anxiety and ease depression. Find a tune to enjoy. Move with the rhythm. Honor the loved one and heal through the movement.
Singing or playing music allows the grieving person to move in and out of the notes, the melody, the lyrics. Feeling, honoring and letting go the emotions. This expression known healing effects.
It is important to Walk Through Grief, this is a healthy approach to surviving loss.
It is when we sit and ruminate on the grief that we are risk for long term depression and anxiety which lead to a decreased quality of life.
